Our Route
East of the Pennines

Day 8
Dunfermline - Newtonmore 103 Miles
After setting off from Dunfermline we hit the Scottish Highlands. As we went round bend after bend all we could see were fields. The temperature dropped as we went through the Grampian Mountains and we couldnt wait to get to the hostel.  We were now on the A9 which we were to follow upto John O'Groats.

Day 9
Newtonmore - Tain 79 Miles
Back on the A9 we had one long road all the way to Tain. No getting lost now. We saw some beutiful views along the way especailly as we passed over the Caledonian Canal in Inverness. The end was now in sight.
Day 10
Tain - John O'Groats 84 Miles

We started the day at 5:30 to get a head start.  It was a beautiful morning.  As we crossed the bridge from Tain we cycled through the clouds and saw the sun rise. After about 30 miles we hit the hills.  And the hills hit us!!  Still determined to get to the end we didn't let them fase us.  One last puncture for Eddie and the end was near. As we reached the last stretch it seemed to last forever.  Then we finally reached John O'Groats and a weight lifted from our shoulders.

Once we got to the hostel we were able to thaw to Eddies they had a log burner.  We would like to thank Pete from the hostel also donated to our charity.
