Our Last Field Trip : The 9-12 grade trip to the Salam Center in Sacramento opened our eyes in many ways. There was an emptiness that was sensed and the students expressed their appreciation for the freedom that we have to be able to enter the Presence of God freely and enjoy intimacy with Him.
Originally, our group was going to back up to the wall when the final prayer started. However, when the entire group stood up, the men moved all of us forward with them. The students remained standing while everyone around them bowed down and prayed to Allah. This was a valuable experience that some of the students compared to what Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego must have felt when everyone else was bowing down to the King's idol. The students were able to experience first hand what it means to stand up for their faith despite the actions of people around them. Students also expressed that they felt challenged to serve God more whole-heartedly after their experience.
Please join us in praying for our brothers and sisters who do not know Christ- that God would remove the blinders from their eyes and draw them to Himself! Amen!
