Those took it upon themselves to evacuate did just fine.
Those who rushed to the downtown stadium for a government promised evacuation were left stranded.

Those who took it upon themselves to store clean water and food did just fine.

Those who waited on the government for clean water and food, which was promised to them, were left thirsty, and hungry.

It has been a few years since hurricane Katrina - and
those who have taken it upon themselves to rebuild have done so.
Some, on their own.
Some, with the help of private charitable organizations.
Those who decided to wait for promised government assistance - are still waiting/homeless.

Private charity groups have carefully spent every dime donated to them.
The government (fema-and local) have misspent, wasted, stolen, and flat out lost, billions.

With so many lessons, like New Orleans, why does anyone continue to turn to government for anything?

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it.

They failed and it closed.

Now we are trusting the entire economy of our country to same guys who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze?
