Psychoanlysis – Wilfred Bion, M.R.C.S. the great British psychoanalyst wrote to Dr. Bergantino "Your work is evocative and stimulating." Dr. Bergantino was trained in psychoanalysis by the best of Wilfred's MD analysands and supervisees and presented at the Bion Conference in Torino Italy in 1997.
He was supervised in psychoanalysis by Martin Grotjahn, M.D. and Bruno Bettelheim, Ph.D. as well.
Existential Psychotherapy – the philosophical unerpinnings of Dr. Bergantino's methods were heavily influenced by Jean Paul Sartre's Being And Nothingness and other works of Sartre's writings on psychoanlysis.
Dr. Bergantino authored Psychotherapy, Insight and Style: The Existential Moment, Allyn & Bacon, Boston, 1981, 288 pp. which was translated into German by Humanistische Psychologie, Cologne, Germany in 1992 under the title Warum Heilt Psychotherapie, der existentielle Augenblick.

Dr. Bergantino was trained in clinical hypnosis and Ericksonian storytelling as well as (New Link – UNCOMMON THEREAPY) BY Milton H. Erickson, M.D.
Dr. Erickson told Dr. Bergantino he "respected his dedication to the work." If you knew Erickson, this was one of the highest compliments he ever paid anyone.
Kleinian Psychoanalysis and Object Relations Psychoanalysis (two separate links) To the extent Dr. Bergantino's training in Bion's work and Bion had been trained by Melanie Klein, this is a solid element of Kleinien and Object Relations work in Dr. Bergantino's work.
Bruno Bettelheim, Ph.D. supervised Dr. Bergantino and Dr. Bergantino was heavily influenced by not only his person but his books Freud and Man's Soul and a Good Enough Mother. Bettlelheim was trained in Freud's original group and stated to Dr. Bergantino that Wilhelm Reich was Freud's most gifted training analyst.
Wilhelm Reich, M.D.'s work has been integrated into the thinking and somewhat into the practice of Dr. Bergantino's work.
John Rosen's work "Direct Analysis" heavily influenced Dr. Bergantino's work in terms of "cutting out the character disorder in character disordered patients who could otherwise be unaffected by psychotherapy.
