The railway is modelled in 16mm to the foot scale, running on 32mm gauge track. The intention is to represent a typical Welsh narrow (2 foot) gauge railway, set some time in the mid 20th century with trains still conveying slate from the quarry at Nant Gorris to the small quayside at Porthcoed. Passenger services and local goods also operate on the line, albeit on an infrequent basis as the line is starting to suffer from the increasing popularity of the motor car.  The line is now starting to look a little 'down at heel' as time and weather take their toll, very much in keeping with a railway running on a minimal income with little or no investment from the company managers.
Actually, it really is starting to look a little too dilapidated, hopefully we will get round to some much needed maintenance and repair work during the summer of 2009.
