The Merlewood Light Railway
I am now moving onto something a little larger. The Merlewood Light Railway is a proposed end to end line in 7.25 inch gauge.
Our first loco' for this new line arrived on April 5th, it is a battery powered (24 volt) model based on the Hudson Hunslet 2 foot gauge loco's.
The Loco' is now sitting there giving me inspiration to make a start on building the track and clearing the rest of the garden ready to take the new line.
The railway is going to strike out from the garage, across the patio and down to the bottom of the back garden where it will fork into two sidings, one either side of the shed (which is about to be replaced by a new structure more in keeping with the railway theme). It is proposed that phase two will send the line in the opposite direction from the garage, out to the front garden, giving us a longer run.

The first permanent section of track is laid. The section runs from inside the garage to approximately half way down the back garden. More to follow......
